Investing in massage is an investment in your health.
Swedish massage is defined by several techniques, effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic choppings), and friction (rubbing). Advanced techniques that have rehabilitating effects and stretches for improving your range of motion are also incorporated. But the ultimate goal is relaxation. Swedish massage is extremely popular and is simple, soothing touch therapy. Traditional Swedish massage, consists mainly of long strokes over oiled skin and kneading(pressure will vary) of the outer layers of muscle tissue to reduce stress and soothe sore joints and muscles.
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as I will work to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as "adhesions").
